A somatic and psychotherapeutic approach:

My approach is holistic and creative. We begin with your story, and we explore your feelings. Talking is a foundational part of our sessions, but by also incorporating expressive exercises, vocal work, movement, or breathwork, feelings that were once buried or “stuffed” can literally get unstuck. This combination of self-expression will open the doorway to making lasting changes in your life. It will help you connect to who you really are, and to find more fulfillment, whether that is at home, in relationships, or in your career.

We each have a unique way of responding to life’s emotional, mental and physical experiences. Our habitual ways of coping with life’s challenges are often healthy, but some can be defensive. We might withhold from others, direct anger inappropriately, experience depression, anxiety or stress, have dysfunctional relationships, etc. We might have a daily headache, neck tension, a chronic feeling of insecurity, fear of taking a risk, or back pain. These behaviors, whether physical, mental or emotional, are how we protect ourselves—in our lives and in our bodies—as a reaction to emotional or environmental lacks from one’s childhood.

My work is grounded in the field of core energetics, which is both somatic (body-oriented) and psychological. This approach helps us recognize how we get in our own way and recreate these protective, defensive patterns that hold us back. Working with the body is vital to transforming your emotional responses, which are not just psychological, but are also anchored in our bodies.  Today’s research in the field of neuroscience corroborates the benefits of this body-mind approach. Our exploration will help you change these fixed patterns of behavior so that you can have more personal freedom and live your life more authentically.

Why am I passionate about this approach?

I believe that awareness is a great starting point, but for change to be long-lasting, we need to go underneath the everyday “mask" that we present in the world, take a risk, and tap into what we are really feeling. When we feel and express what is inside, one’s life can feel more integrated. This creative approach allows us to move past our failed old patterns, access our “inner leader” and to explore and embrace what we want in life.
